What
does God think about Homosexuality?
Realize that homosexuality is not the only sin in the Bible.
So many times we hear that it is the "worst" sin or the most
disgusting. NOT TRUE!! The Bibles says that all
sins are equal in God's eyes. He doesn't think that we
are worse because we deal with sexual sin.
Nevertheless,
there are several different places in the Bible that talks
about "same-sex sins" and homosexuality. (Romans
1, 8, Galatians 5:19-21) In every passage, the
Bible calls homosexuality a sin. BUT,
it's not homosexuality that makes you separated from
God. It's the fact that you choose a lustful act over
loving Him. That's the sin.
Any
sin will separate us from God. We show our love to
God by living for Him and obeying Him. (John 14:15,
23) The good news is that the moment we confess our sins
and stop acting on them, we are accepted and made right.
We can not earn it! You can only accept it!
"Saving
is all His idea, and all His work. All we do is trust Him
enough to let Him do it. It's God's gift from start
to finish! We don't play the major role. If we
did, we'd probably go around bragging that we'd done
the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves.
God does both the making and saving. He creates each
of us by Christ Jesus to join Him in the work He does, the
good work He has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better
be doing." Ephesians 2:8-10
Remember
that God loves us no matter what we are or what we do, but He
wants us to have a good life and to experience His love.
Can
I be a Christian and gay too?
There really is no grey area in this question. God is
very clear about homosexuality and sexual sin. (see
God's viewpoint) There are those gay individuals that believe
in God calling themselves "christians," yet don't accept
His truth. But according to God's Word, no sin will inherit
the Kingdom of God (heaven); that includes sexual sin. Being
a Christian means being "Christ-like." Since none
of us have ever met Jesus in person, we can only use the Bible
as a guideline of how to be "Christ -like." Being a Christian
is not all about rules, but it is about living your life in
obedience to God. It's not about religion, it's about
having a relationship with Jesus. It's not just about
a label -- it's a lifestyle.
God
is a God of love and He doesn't care if I am Gay.
From Nancy K. Brown with Lifeguard Ministries
God is Love, but He is also Righteousness and Power. Do not
be deceived. He will discipline those whom He loves for their
unrighteous ways. (Hebrews 12:5-6)
- "Young
man, it's wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute
of it. Do everything you
want to do: take it all in. But remember that you must
give account to God for everything you do." Eccl.11:9
- Can
anyone hide from me? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens
and earth? asks the Lord." Jeremiah 23:24
God does
care if you are gay. The brokenness that causes a person
to crave same sex relationships also makes a person idolize
his own body and become self centered and self serving.
The homosexual lifestyle is filled with perverse activities
and adulterous behaviors which can bring physical damage
and danger of sexually transmitted diseases and even death.
For this reason God does not approve of same sex partnerships..
However, He does approve of you, even while you are in sin,
and He loves you and has provided a way for you.
God
made me this way.
From Nancy K. Brown with Lifeguard Ministries
God said many things in His Word about how and why He made us.
"For
you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s
womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret
place. When I was woven together in the depths of the
earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days
ordained for me were written in your book before one of them
came to be.” Ps.139:13-16
"But
I know you well- your coming and going and all you do."
II Kings 19:27a
"Long
ago, even before He made the world, God loved us and chose
us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes."
Eph. 1:4
God has
made His mind clear in both the Old and the New Testaments
where homosexuality is concerned. He said in both texts
that sleeping with a person of your same sex is not acceptable
behavior to Him. He spoke explicitly against burning
with lust for those of the same sex, and becoming narcissistic
and selfish. Depending on the practices of the day,
God prescribed the harshest of penalties for those practicing
homosexuality. In all the years covered by the Bible
and all the various persons God used to write it's books,
in all the diverse examples used by God to teach us, not
once is
there a positive mention of any person or couple in a same
sex relationship. With this in mind how can any person
believe that God lovingly made us with a characteristic which
would doom us to His harshest penalties from the moment of
our creation. . Many choose to believe that God actually
didn't say these negative quotes to the men who wrote the
Bible, that those warnings referred to other sins or the
writer's own prejudices prompted those strong exhortations
against homosexuality. However, what kind of Power
would God be exhibiting before us if He professed such great
love for us from the beginning of time and then allowed mere
men to change His intended blessing to curses? God is a God
of love and power and He would never allow others to put
words in His mouth.
It's
my life I can do as I please.

Cor. 6:12-20 says the following:
12
"Everything is permissible for me"-- but not everything is
beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"-- but I will
not be
mastered by anything.
13 "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"-- but
God will
destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality,
but for
the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he
will raise us
also.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ
himself? Shall
I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute?
Never!
16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute
is one
with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one
flesh."
17 But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him
in spirit.
18 Run away from sexual sin. No other sin so clearly effects
the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is
a sin against your own body.
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is
in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your
own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your
body.
Sometimes
it's hard to hear that we have to let go of our own desires.
But there are wonderful promises that come with the sacrifice.
He offers forgiveness, peace, rest, wisdom, life eternal and
much more..
"The
eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and His ears
are open to their prayers." I Peter 3:12
"Commit
your works unto the Lord, and your thought will be established."
Proverbs 16:3
"Those
who trust in the Lord will never lack any good thing."
Psalm 34:10b
"I
will guide you along the best path for your life." Psalm
32:8
"For
God so loved the world that He have His only son, that
whoever believes in Him will have eternal life." John
3:16
"I
will never leave you nor forsake you ." Hebrews 13:15
"Even
if your parents abandon you, I will take care of you."
Psalm 27:10
Is
change possible?
Absolutely!! Did you know that there is a story in the Bible
of people who overcame their sexual sin? It is possible! Read
the following passage I Corinthians 6:9-11.
"Do
you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will
not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived neither the impure, nor idolaters, nor
adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality, nor
cheats, nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foul-mouthed
revelers, and slanderers, nor extortioners, and robbers
will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God. An
such some of you WERE ONCE, but you were washed clean and
you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ."
This list
includes every person who was ever born... it covers me and
if you want, it can describe you, too! Change takes
place in your attitude and thoughts first, then in your actions
followed by your lifestyle. Go to the testimony
page to hear other stories of people changing!
The
choice is yours.
Nobody can make this decision for you. Change has to be
something you want more than anything. You can read this
whole site page by page and still choose to live in sin.
But if you are old enough to know right from wrong, you
are accountable for your actions. There are several things
in your life that you will have to make strong choices about,
like what are you going to be when you grow up, where
are you going to college, who do you want to marry?
All of these choices will be determined by you and the way you
allow your circumstances to effect you. The choice
is yours!!
"Today
I have given you the choice between Life and Death, between
blessings and curses. I call on Heaven and earth to
witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose
Life, that you might Live. Choose to love the Lord
your God and to obey Him and commit yourself to Him, for
He is your Life!"
Deuteronomy 30:19-20a
When
is my mind normal?
We can allow thoughts to overwhelm us, and even consume us to
the point that our whole life is commanded by our thought process.
God tells us that He created us in His image. He wants
us to "Think on things that are true and honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
Philippians 4:8 So when our mind has impure thoughts or
lustful feelings we will always feel abnormal. God
didn't create us to think like that. Try replacing
those thoughts with other things like prayer or even Scriptures.
To read more go to Think about what
you are thinking about.
Don't
get discouraged!
Is this process impossible? NO!! Difficult? Yes.
Here are some Scriptures to encourage you...
"Do
not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and
doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season
you will reap victory." Galatians 6:9
"Cast
all your cares on Him for He cares for you." 1 Peter
5:7
"Don't
worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which
is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand."
Phillipians 4:6, 7
"I
am your hiding place, I will protect you from trouble
and surround you with songs of deliverance. I will
instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I
will counsel you and watch over you." Psalms 32:7,
8
"I
am the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the
earth...those who hope in Me will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and
not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:28, 31
"For
I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Do
not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you.
I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious
right hand." Isaiah 41:9, 10
"For
I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.
Plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future
and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will
listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will
find me when you seek me." Jeremiah 29:11-13
The difficulties
that we encounter with change are well worth the overcoming
end result. It's like treasure hunting. You've
got the map (the Bible), you know what the treasure is (a
good life and Heaven) now the adventure begins.
Don't Give Up!!
Use
the Word!
Do you know why there is so much power in the Bible? Because
it is the Word of God. When Jesus was tempted
He quoted the Bible. You see, satan can't deny the authority
and the truth of God's Word. That's why it is very important
that you read the Bible and memorize Scripture. Have personal
quiet time with just you and God when you read. Ask Him
to help you understand it. It holds every promise to you,
every answer to every question and it contains His plan for
your life. The Word of God is the Truth, "and the Truth
will set you FREE!" John 8:36
Think
about what you're thinking about.
So many times we allow our minds to be filled with junk!
Everywhere you turn today you see pornography, violence and
perversion. Your mind is like a computer. Whatever
you put in is only what comes out! So if you fill your
mind with lustful things that's all that will come out!
"Our thoughts become our words. Therefore it is important
that we choose life generating thoughts." (from
Battlefield of the Mind - by Joyce Meyers) The Scripture
that comes to mind is Phillipians 4:8 which says, "Fix
your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.
Think about things that are worthy of praise." Once you
have gained control of your thoughts, your actions will follow
and ultimately your life will Change!
"Study
this Book of Law continually. Meditate on it day and
night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it.
Only then will you succeed." Joshua 1:8
"Commit
your works unto the Lord, and your thoughts will be established."
Proverbs 16:3
Trusting
God requires faith.
For some people "Faith" is the hardest part of being a Christian.
It is difficult to believe in something you can't see or touch.
But there are several things in our life that hold those some
characteristics: gravity, wind, and even oxygen. We can't
survive without these things. God's the same way.
He exists! He is Real! His presence is all around
us.
Once you
begin to live for Jesus in obedience to His Word, you will
begin to feel Him and understand Him. The more you
trust Him, the more He will prove He exists. The more
you know He is there, the more Faith you will have!
"Trust
in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely
in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord,
and He will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything
you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you."
Psalms 37:3-5
"Trust
me in times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you
will give me glory."
Psalms 50:15
"Trust
in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding, in all your ways seek His will and He will
direct your path." Proverbs 3:5
"Those
who trust in the Lord will never lack any good thing."
Psalm 34:10
